Marilyn Moyes is a retired nurse who has lived in Kayenta since 1986. When her husband John Moyes (reddesertcabinets.com) started making one of a kind cabinets as a hobby, she started helping him by painting them. After retiring she started putting her ideas on canvas.

She is drawn to bright colors and is influnced by John Nieto and Malcolm Furlow. she is self taught and likes working on wood instead of canvas because of the added texture and being able to sand off some of the painting for effect.

Both John's and Marilyns work has been on display at Xetava, Datura Gallery and the Kayenta Art Show.
