My paintings evolve from drawings in my sketchbook, which I take everywhere.  I think some of my best paintings are the result of long layovers in the airports, which is full of interesting models.  Cocktail napkins are also great to sketch on-the soft paper gives an interesting texture.

Trying to get a mood into my paintings is my main goal.  I hope to communicate what I feel about the situation that inspired the art.

I started out as a medical illustrator.  Sketching in surgery has to be fast and accurate.  That experience gave me a good background in getting the essentials down in the first few lines.  Now I am putting people together almost like a story to be interpreted by the viewer.
